inspiration
I heard it on npr...although the segment was about photography. Robb Kendrick's passion and dedication for his art put me to shame. First of all, he uses tintype, a mid 19th century technique that is nearly extinct, when everyone else this day and age uses digital. To complete his cowboy project, he drove all around the country for six years, covering 41,000 miles. He travels with his own darkroom that is set up in a teardrop trailer. The pictures on Kendrick's website are amazing. I can't get over the beautiful sepia tones and soul piercing eyes of the portraits. Pure inspiration! (The exposure time for portraits vary from 7 to 45 seconds...my contact lenses will fall out while staring at the camera.^^)
